EU a quasi-State, still in the making.

Category:

The E.U.

With the Treaty of Maastricht in 1993, a new European identity was born. The E.U. was based on the principles of supranationalism which superseded national interests for the common-good of all the nations involved in that big project.

The small steps of a big giant.

When I'm comparing the, "EU" to the big players of the world's economical powers, I see it as a big giant which is moving with small steps toward an unlikely direction, "the complete process of unification" put in motion by the unavoidable needs for peace and prosperity in the old continent.

Indeed, right now I compare the European Union's progress steps more of a dwarf's steps, rather than a giant's steps.

The reason of it?

The reason of it is, because this process has being continuously foiled by the nationalisms of the single states.

Not that I am totally against "some" nationalism inside a single European nation, but I believe some dosage of it can be good in maintaining the uniqueness and richness of any single European identity as individual European cultures.

Of course, all these different European cultures (in my personal opinion, and I believe many of you will agree on this one) can't and should not be amalgamate completely as a single unity, but keep its variation of identities inside an European's soul.

Can you imagine, an Europe without a French, English, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish, and so on cultures to be completely superseded by a generic European culture? Gee, that would be a monstrous outcome for sure.

The EU can never be the United States of America, the Russian Federation, China, or any other supersized nation while competing in the world economy and having in the same time, some decisively influence on the world's stage politics, because of its make ups. But if it wants too, the EU has not other alternatives then to subsequently remove a big chunk of nationalism from inside any single European member nation, if it wants to keep advancing as an united force, in the only direction which will allow it to survive and prosper in this competitive world.

ECSC

The European Coal and Steel Community.

T
he EU traces its origins to the European Coal and Steel Community formed among six countries in 1951 and the Treaty of Rome in 1957.

The European Community (EC) is one of the three pillars of the European Union (EU) created under the Maastricht Treaty (1992). It is based upon the principle of supranationalism and has its origins in the European Economic Community, the predecessor of the European Union.

more on: European Community.
and: European Coal and Steel Community.

Now, there are so many factors that are tampering within the scope of this large project born from the ashes of the old EEC, ECSC and EAEC.

EU a quasi-State, still in the making.

The unification of so many different European's identities was hard from the very start, and that's why it started with the speed of "the small steps". To maintain and solidify a project of this magnitude, the European Union needed a new parliament which was able to emanate unifying European's laws inside a new European configuration, and hence to grow and get stronger industrially and politically, in favor of a new and futuristic world's scenario.

Thereafter, from all the above efforts a new EU (Europe United) was born.

Unfortunately, that's wasn't the end of it. Today, the European Union still lacks of unity in international, or national matters. And thus, it 's deceiving itself on illusional dreams of being (economically and politically) a great player in the world's arena, but it isn't!

Many things can be blamed for the lack of the EU to reach a paramount status. One of these many things to be blamed for, was though to be the many languages spoken in the old continent

I remember in my old school days, there were talks about how hard was for a future United States of Europe, to overcome the barrier of an unsurmountable obstacle, such as the many languages spoken in it.

To surpass the obstacle of the many languages spoken in Europe, there were talks about one possible solution, and it was the, "Esperanto". The Esperanto as an unifying language tool. If I'm not mistaken, back those days the Esperanto was a novelty.

Nowadays, I haven't heard anyone mentioning it anymore. What a pity.

Anyway, the unification speed by itself can be blamed. All the EU attempts of a real economical and political unifications are being slowed down by Europe's, "prima donna" such as French, and England (just to name a few) which are trying very hard to have their saying in the making of the political decisions, and therefore maintaining some sort of status as big players (even though they are not anymore) in Europe and in the world, because of their great histories in the, "all but gone past".

The egocentric behaviors of these nations are only shutting down Europe's future, not helping it!!! That's the sad truth.

To reverse this trend dictated by nationalisms and self-interests, Europe needs a new consciousness. It needs stronger laws and new political ideas which are emanated by a convincing European parliament, and ultimately the whole renewed process to be completely perceived and absorbed by all the member states.

That's it! What Europe needs is, a new identifying movement through an European parliament which has real powers to make in the EU's politics and economics
real changes too on the behalf of the entire Union, if really wants it to overcome the disunity coming from some European nations.

In truth, today the European Union isn't a de facto federation, or a confederation but has been viewed by many as a federal system. The complexity involved in moving it toward a further European integration, meant to compromise national sovereignties, and for many squabbling Eurosceptics it was and it still is, very hard to digest. In the present days, a United States of Europe is a dream too farfetched, and possibly it will remain for some time to come just that, a dream.

more on: Federal Europe.

As conclusion I wanted to say: Europe divided will irreparably sink to the bottom of an agitated sea, but as an unified force it will temper unseeing storms on its horizons.

Footnote:

Not that I am, but sometime i feel to be a sort of representative of the European continent in America. Even though, I've being living in the United State of America for well over twenty years, I feel as a part of me is still living in "Euroland" (I don't know who came out with this, "Euroland" terminology but I like it. It sounds like the
American theme park, Disneyland).

And that's why when I'm ranting in my blog, I talk more of the European Union and its problematic situation due to its unification, but I promise in my future postings in addition, I will give more space for my American's rantings.

Islam, a dark strategy created by politicians for their political interests.

Category:

Games of politics.

I must admit, that sometimes I have uneasy feelings when I writing on Islam's topic. Feelings which are translated into personal doubts of falling for a dark strategy. A political's dark strategy, masterminded by political puppeteers which are maneuvering their marionettes (meaning all of us, the common citizens), behind the close doors of politics.

I'm always wondering if this unseen dark strategy is, a degenerate scheme produced by evil minds to draw away our focus from the real problems that are tormenting our own societies.

After September 11, a new threat has appeared into the political and social sceneries of almost every democratic nations on earth. This threat which has replaced the old Cold War is coming from the Islamic Mideast's nations, and it has since loomed in the minds and souls of all.

I'm always wondering if in the case of the European Union, the creators of this elaborate scheme could had resorted on the use of scare tactics to deceive their real intents.

What kind of intents you may ask?

I thought one of their intents could well be this: after the creation of the EU, the European makers needed an adhesive to bind together all the different European identities into one homogeneous European state. And what's better than an Islamic menace which will encompass all of the Europeans' fears of losing their beloved freedoms, into inducing them to react with disproportion as a united force to this potential disastrous event in all of their lives.

Here, in the United States of America after September 11, the danger of radical Islamists are been played into the hands of smart American politicians to fit in their political agendas as well? For example: the Islamic's threat has being used as an excuse during the Gulf war, but the real nature of the war was a dark strategy put in place by evil American politicians for the economical benefits of a few. At least, that's what a lot of American people are thinking about that war.

Fanciful conspiracy theories.

And here, I want to open a small paragraph regarding 9/11 conspiracy theories: like the conspiracy theory of Intelligence Agency Involvement in 9/11 Attacks, or all the rumors of Israeli Involvement in 9/11. After all, without 9/11, some of the American political masterminds couldn't had waged a war in Iraq, and consequently draw profits from it.

Before September 11, there were few people talking about the evil Islam. After that, everyone were talking about it. Later on, any malaise in our societies seem to be imputable to Islam.

Sometimes, it looks to me that Islam has being used as a scapegoat by many ordinary citizens from Western nations, and that political's scammers which are using mental games (reverse psychology) to move these
ordinary citizens toward the direction they had planned for, under the false pretense of imminent dangers are finally succeeding in their plans.

These politicians are using political correctness and cultural sensitivity, to stimulate tolerance among different ethnic groups. Especially, when they are talking about Muslims and Islam, and the situation created upon their arrival in Euroland, or here in United States. In reality, they don't give a damn about them, but their real objectives are different and well concealed.

Where is the truth?

Who knows! All my doubts could very well be generated by wrong impressions. And despite of all, I want to keep a suspicious mental attitude toward anything that is dumped at me by the politicians, news medias and similar. Besides, I would be very angered if I have fallen to a trickery engineered by evil politicians, for the benefit of the gullible such as myself.

In conclusion, what I was trying to tell you with all the doubts I have regarding the supposedly Islamization of the Western Civilizations is, to always maintain a sensible skepticism because you never know whether this Islamic crises, or any other national, or international crises are indeed nothing more than mere deceptions created by our own governments, for keeping us from looking farther fror the real culprits which are causing afflictions in our societies.

Does all this means that I will stop blogging about Islam?

Until won't be there any tangible proof that indeed, it is all a scheme the cultural crises between Western Civilization and the Islamic civilization and not just my fervid imagination, I won't stop to write about it.

Fortress Europe-The boats of hope.

Category:

A new invasion is happening at the footsteps of Europe, and this time aren't hordes of barbaric invaders that, are trying to knock down Europe Fortress' doors but, despairing masses of peoples from many of the poorest countries in the world. This is happening for quite a couple years but, as usual American medias report very little or nothing at all, like they don't care much about it.

*****

From the Mediterranean sea, and throughout the European's boundaries, these masses of hopeless are trying to get in, by any possible means they can find, by worn down boats to cargo-trucks, while risking their lives in the attempt to reach their final destination in the hope, to find a better future in the old continent.

An endless flow of immigrants and refugees every year since, this mass exodus has initiated, and many of them have already died, while trying to reach the European Union. But as I said, to find some related news about it, I have resorted to watch the European news, because the American ones don't report enough like, there was not much interest about it or, as if the world was confined solely inside the States' boundaries or worst, nothing else is happening outside of them.

Anyway, I've seen from the TV European's news, all these people which are trying to reach the European seashores with those barges of hope and, many times unfortunately their Mediterranean sea crossings, ending up at the bottom of the sea. Many of these misfortune people, have already drowned while attempting to cross the Mediterranean sea, making of it one large graveyard for over 10.000 persons. All these shipwrecks and deads, still won't stop or slow down these people attempts, to reach their dreams of a better life, they just keep coming and, when finally they have reached their destinations, their minds and bodies are deteriorated by the inhuman conditions they have endured during the sea crossing on board of those makeshift boats, stuffed to the extremes.

The endless trail of deaths throughout Europe.

The endless massacre at the gates of Europe goes on. At least 296 migrants and refugees have died trying to reach European Union in October 2007. More than 200 people were reported to be missing off Canary Islands, in Spain, 51 migrants died in the Strait of Sicily and Calabria (south of Italy) and 33 others were drowned in the Aegean sea, between Turkey and Greece. At least 1,343 migrants have already died since the beginning of the year.

The European nations from their part, are looking to at least reduce this swarming of new comers, because they can't deal all together with this big masses trying to get in, all at once.

Battles for the civilization.-"Death penalty."

Category:

Introduction:

Death penalty, euthanasia, abortion, three really tough topics.
Many years ago, I had a very different view about these topics, because of my faith.
I thought, life was a gift to be preserved by any unnatural death, even in spite of big sufferings.
Today, my thoughts in these topics are much changed, my moral dilemmas had taken new approaches on these matters.

*****

The European Union, has presented a resolution to the United Nation for a Moratorium on the Death Penalty, it's an Italian proposal supported by several countries for the capital punishment.
This Moratorium, is a d
ifferent solution than a total abolition but, permitting a temporary suspension of it.
The scope of this resolution is, to “progressively restrict the use of the death penalty and, reduce the
number of offences for which, it may be imposed.
Their goal of course is, a total worldwide ban on the practise in the near future.
Nations like the U.S., the China, and Iran which are still practicing it, will not be forced by international law to stop carrying out executions any time soon but, from now on they will only be under a strong "moral" magnifying glass.

Execution isn't a solution?

Many believe that, the right course of justice, isn't death punishment for the perpetrators but, a lifetime in jail it is.
Maybe, capital punishments don't deter these kind of crimes maybe, a quick death isn't enough but, lifetime in jail it's a tou
gher punishment than death itself, for my part this solution doesn't reflect my convictions.

After watching movies like the "Green miles", I was in the opinion that death penalty was an inhuman punishment, even for those involved in mass murders.
After 9/11, my certainties were swept away by the horror caused from those terrorists, for the total disregard of innocent human lives.
My conscience, had rebelled right than, fr
om any hindrance towards those awaiting for an execution in the death chambers, any pity had vanished for those murderers which, didn't show themselves pity toward their own victims.
After all my anger had subsided, my mind was and, still it's in a limbo regarding this matter.
Am i a pro or, an anti-executioner?
What is right!
I am torn by this matter, who am I to decide who should die!
I know, my arguments are too reductive, I'm not an expert in the subject, my are just personal views in the matter, nothing more.

I can fill up the rest of this article with data but still, it won't be enough.
Many experts in this field, had already debated it countless t
imes and, came out without a definitive answer.

The Ultimate Punishment.

The Ultimate Punishment, should be applied more swiftly and, only on those crimes known as capital crimes or capital offenses, or on those war crimes against humanity, where there isn't any doubt whatsoever of guiltiness.
I can point out in favor of a murderer, waiting in jail for his execution to be carried out that, the convicted can spent months or, even years before reaching a conclusion, any conclusion, been death or, life sentence in jail, due to course and recourse from the justice system.
Many times, the murderer gets to the death chamber, ready to be executed, and in the last moment hes execution been postponed for a justice recourse.
The condemned was already prepar
ed to die but, at the last moment has been giving to him another opportunity to live one more day, meaning more months or, years of agonizing waiting for the death row execution once again.
It's like a nightmare for the condemned, without an end in sight.
And what about, those been executed innocently!
Because, I believe there isn't any right answer for all these queries, I decided for now to stand aside.
